Celebrate the Holidays with These Can’t Miss Monroe, AL Events

Holidays Monroeville
Celebrating the holiday season in the South is something special – especially in Monroeville, Alabama. Thanks to annual festivals and a host of beloved holiday traditions, the city serves up an irresistibly festive atmosphere all throughout the holidays, which marks Monroeville as a great destination for both travelers and Alabama locals. Discover the city’s premier holiday-season attractions, or contact the Monroeville/Monroe County Chamber of Commerce to learn more.

Cane Syrup Makin’ Day

Cane Syrup Makin’ Day is a longtime Monroe Country tradition held the first Saturday of each November at Rikard’s Mill Historical Park in Beatrice, AL. Throughout the event, rural heritage demonstrators transform the mill into a pioneer village, where cane syrup is created, bottled and sold the old-fashioned way. Food vendors will also be available, so you can grab a bite while you explore the festivities.

Taste of Monroeville

Delicious food and drink abound at this annual celebration of the city’s finest culinary artists.  Taste of Monroeville will begin at 6 p.m on November 12th – the price of admission includes tickets redeemable for both food and drinks-$30.00 each. Sponsorship opportunities are available on the Chamber website or via email officemanager@monroecountyal.com

Annual Fruitcake Festival

Monroeville’s literary heritage shines bright at this festival inspired by Truman Capote’s A Christmas Memory. The event unfolds at the Heritage Museum, where guests will enjoy a retelling of the story, as well as a reception featuring food and drink. Fittingly enough, fruitcakes crafted by local cooks will be available throughout the day.

Monroeville's Grand Illumination and Winter Market

There’s no better way to welcome the holiday season than with Monroeville’s Grand Illumination and Winter Market. Keep the whole family entertained with events catering to guests of all ages, including a visit from Santa and Mrs. Claus, holiday musical performances and more. Plus, be sure to browse the market to knock out the remainder of your Christmas list before viewing the lighting of the downtown Christmas tree.

Mobile Symphony Orchestra: ‘Tis the Season

The Mobile Symphony Orchestra’s hit holiday performance, ‘Tis the Season, is yet another seasonal staple that draws guests from throughout Monroe County and beyond. This year’s Monroeville performance takes place Friday, December 14 in Nettles Auditorium at Coastal Alabama Community College and features the Eastern Shore Choral Society. Best of all, it's free of charge.

Monroeville Christmas Parade

Monroeville's annual Christmas Parade is one to see. Keep the family traditions alive by enjoying a community Christmas parade Saturday, December 5th as it makes it way through downtown Monroeville.
